| William Irwin Shuster was born in Hempfield township, Westmoreland county, Pennsylvania, March 11, 1859. He attended the public schools in the vicinity of his home until about nineteen years of age, his parents having removed from his native township to Harrison City in 1864, and after attaining his twelfth birthday his leisure time was devoted to clerking in his father's general mercantile store in Harrison City. In June, 1902, he removed to the town of Jeannette and at once engaged in the real estate business, establishing an office for the conduct of the same where he attends to all the various branches, including life, accident and fire insurance. Mr. Shuster is well known for his integrity, honorable business transactions, and executive ability. He has been an active member of the Lutheran church for thirty years, and is at present (1905) trustee of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church of Jeannette. He is a Democrat in politics. Mr. Shuster married, February 14, 1884, Sarah Jane, daughter of Ezra and Catharine Sarver, of Harrison City. Their children are: Morris Otis, born November 11, 1884; Pearl May, July 15, 1886; Mary Catherine, October 27, 1888, died January 12, 1889; Hetty Mabel, September 18, 1890, died July 15, 1891; Clara Irene, June 16, 1892; Eula Marie, November 14, 1896; Ethel Margaret, December 23, 1899; and Edward Russell, May 28, 1902.16 |
