John Allen [Zundel] is a graduate of the Greensburg Seminary, a public school teacher for some years, a graduate of Thiel College at Greenvil1e, and of the Lutheran Theological Seminary, Chicago, and an ordained Lutheran minister. He served the congregation at Beaver Falls for several years, and is now located at Fargo (North Dakota) mission. He is married to Catharine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richter, of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania. Mary Martha, a seamstress, residing with the subject of this sketch. Hermie Idel1a, residing with her parents near Grapevil1e. Agnes Anna (Mrs. John Weightman), residing at Weaver's Old Stand, this county. Albert Martin, residing on a farm near Harrold's, a public school teacher, and superintendent of the Old Zion's Lutheran Sunday school. Robert Marion, part owner of the farm with Albert M., and a teacher in Hempfield township schools, and Sunday school superintendent. William Arter, a graduate of the Greensburg Seminary and Gettysburg College, and a student of the Lutheran Seminary at Chicago, and a prospective candidate for the ministry. Albert M. Zundel is a shoemaker by trade, but at present a farmer. He served acceptably as township assessor and collector of taxes. He was for several terms supervisor of public roads, and has an extensive acquaintance in the county. He was one of the first volunteers in the Union cause in the war of the Rebellion, having enlisted in the three months service. He is a member of Captain George A. Cribbs Post, No.276, G.A.R.; also of Westmoreland Lodge, No.840, I.0.0.F. He served for years as deacon, elder, trustee and secretary of the Old Zion Lutheran church.16 | ||||||||||||||||||
