Joseph Eisaman, fourth son of George and Sarah (Steiner) Eisaman, was born on the home farm, February 22, 1838. He remained thereon until after his twenty-fourth year, then, having previously learned the stone mason and brick layer's trade, and marrying, removed to near New Stanton where he remained four years and farmed. He then sold out his farm and removed to Irwin, where he has since followed his trade, residing in his present home on Oak street for twenty-three years. For a number of years Mr. Eisaman has been a prominent member in the Reformed church, in which he is an elder of thirty years standing, and has also served as deacon and trustee. He was the delegate in May, I905, to the general synod of the Reformed church, at Allentown, Pennsylvania, the convention of the highest dignitaries of the church in the state. He is a Democrat in politics. Mr. Eisaman married, October 2, 1862, Eliza:beth Gross, daughter of David and Susan (Beck) Gross, of Hempfield township. Issue: Alma Etta, born July 13. 1863, died at the age of eight years. William Beck, born August 17, 1866, is a merchant at Latrobe. He married Sarah Baum, of Armstrong county, Pennsylvania, issue: Joseph Ralph, Gertrude, Effie Blanch, Mary Caroline, and Francis Baum. Anna Katherine born February 11, 1868, unmarried, resides at home. Elizabeth (Gross) Eisaman, mother of these children, died March 26, 1883.16
