| Amos Eisaman, fifth and youngest son of George and Sarah (Steiner) Eisaman, was born on the home farm in Hempfield township, April 12, 1845. He received a common school education, remained on the farm until the age of eighteen, in 1863, when he went to Mount Pleasant and learned the trades of house painting and chair making. The former occupation he has continued up to the present time. He spent nine years in Carnegie, Allegheny county, and about 1894-95 removed to his present home in Greensburg. He has taken an active part in politics up to within a few years, giving his allegiance to the Democratic party, and has served in the capacity of councilman of his borough, school director, justice of the peace, and as deputy sheriff of the county. He holds membership in the Lutheran church, in which body he served as deacon for a number of years. He is also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and served one term as district deputy grand master. Mr. Eisaman married, July 4, 1867, Eveline I. Rohland, daughter of George and Margaret (Orr) Rohland, of West Newton, Pennsylvania. Issue: Sarah Margaret, born March 20, 1868, died May 31, 1902; she was the wife of George Boyd. Minnie Jane, born January 19, 1870. died October 12, 1888, unmarried. George Milton, born January 9, 1873, died in infancy. Henry Lemcky, born June 9, 1874, married Lillie Carmichael, issue: Lewis and Sarah Eisaman; they reside in Carnegie, Pennsylvania. John Murtz, born April 15, 1878, married Mary Kelly, issue: Edward Perry: they reside in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Richard Grabam, born October 8, 1880, unmarried, is a baggage master on the Pan Handle railroad. Amos Andrew, born January 14, 1884, is a passenger brakeman on the Pan Handle railroad; he married Catherine Shotts, issue: Mildred. They reside in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.16 |
