| Another source has her born 28 Mar 1870. One source has her name as Augusta Caroline Pepper, but that seems wrong. Had cancer at age 53 or 54; it was removed and never came back. Later when she lived alone, she ate too many crackers and no vegetables. She developed diabetes and one kidney no longer functioned. Cause of death was stroke.22 Died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Gust.
