| William Clarke & John Strong "came over on the same ship and settled in the same town. Both were special friends of Mr. [Cotton] Mather."21 Of Dorchester 1636 & 1653; although he was one of the original petioners of Northampton in 1653, he did not arrive there until 1659. Was of Deerfield 1673 & 1683, but returned to Northampton where he died in 1690. Trumbull provides an extensive biographical sketch and a copy of his signature.9,21 The first grist mill in Northampton was originally co-owned by William Clarke, Alexander Edwards, Samuel Wright, Sr., and Joseph Parsons.21 | ||||||||||||||||||||
