FARM HISTORY: The land on which Old Macdonalds Farm Park stands was originally part of a much larger farm known as Wrightsbridge Farm. The history of Wrightsbridge Farm can be traced back to 1335.

1335 - The very large and wealthy Wright family owned the farm at this time. Under their ownership the farm passed through successive generations and [in 1678?] John Wright was the fifth holder of the estate.

1678 - Wrightsbridge Farm was mortgaged to a London haberdasher, John Wood.

1685 - John Wright and John Wood had both now died. John Wright's mother and sisters conveyed Wrightsbridge Farm to John Wood's daughter Sarah, who was later to become the wife of John Caldecott.

1720 - Sir Robert Albyns of Stapleford Abbots then purchased the farm from the Caldecott's. It stayed in this family for 150 years.

1872 - Sir Arundell Neave purchased the farm and it was included into his much larger Dagnam Park Estate.

1919 - The tenants R Watt & Sons then bought the part of the estate formerly known as Wrightsbridge Farm.

1992 - Local businessman Tony Port purchased the farm from the Watt's family. His objective was to create a farm where visitors could get close to, stroke and feed the animals and birds thus heightening public awareness towards farm animals, poultry, pets and the countryside.105
