| Lived with his parents until about age 22 years (i.e., ca. 1830). He came to Adrian in October 1831 where he worked for two years for David Bixby & Augustus Stout to earn enough to buy 160 acres of farmland in Dover Twp.2 Another source says he settled at Adrian in 1835.64 A sketch of his farmstead appears on p. 93 of the 1874 Lenawee County atlas.68 In 1893 his former farm was owned by a Maria McKenzie,73 but by 1916 it was no longer held by a McKenzie.106 |
