Pearl C. Ruesink, 90, of Spring Valley, a longtime Cherry Grove area resident, died Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2003, at the Spring Valley Care Center. Pearl Leutink was born the daughter of Henry and Carrie (TerMaat) Leutink on Aug. 25, 1913, in Fillmore County. She was raised on her family's farm in rural Cherry Grove. She married Paul Ruesink Oct. 7, 1931, at the Greenleafton Reformed Church parsonage. The couple farmed in York and Forestville townships until 1971, when they retired and moved to Spring Valley. He died April 26, 1981. She was a member of the Cherry Grove United Methodist Church and its ladies aid. Survivors include one daughter, Carol Ann (Robert) Meyer of Byron; one son, Richard (Gwen) Ruesink of Spring Valley; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Leonard (Helen) Leutink Sr., and Henry Leutink, both of Spring Valley. She was preceded in death by one brother. The funeral was Friday at Cherry Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Carolyn Westlake of Preston United Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Greenleafton Cemetery in rural Preston.
