Another source has him born in Wisch.13 Emigrated to America from De Heurne 3 Aug 1870 with his wife Aleida Berendina and daughter Grada.10 Virgil H. has notes about a "Baklar" family--might this be an alternate speling of Berkelaar?140

This family appears in Alto, Fond du Lac Co, Wisc., in the 1880 census, except that dau. Grada is living as a servant with another family in the area:

Perhaps the 1904 marriage record is for a different Alyda, but I don't know who that would be....
