Born 8 Jan 1909 in Adrian, Michigan, the son of Louie and Anna VanSchoik Foltz, the second of six children. Graduated from high school in Forest, Ohio in 1926. Attended Adrian College receiving the Bachelor of Science degree in 1930. Attended the University of Michigan receiving a Master of Science degree in chemistry in 1933.
Worked for Parker Rust Proof Co., a subsidiary of Occidental Petroleum Corp., for 41 years, retiring in January 1974 from the position of Production Manager. Norman's years of retirement were filled with the activities he enjoyed most fishing, travelling, duck hunting, enjoying the outdoors, and in some armchair travel, too.

Norman , while learning to drive, wrecked his father's Ford near "Billtown" [= Williamstown]. Worked on the railroad the summer he was 14 (1923), even though employees were supposed to be 16.
In 1934 Norman and Frances rented a fully furnished house at 127 West Lagrange in Morenci. Margaret and Fred were born in this house. Subsequently they bought a house at 223 South East Street. In 1940 they moved to 18980 Woodingham Drive, Detroit, where they lived until 1968. At that time they purchased the farm at 4198 Tipton Hwy, Adrian, and divided their time between the farm and apartments in downtown Detroit and Madison Heights until Norman retired in 1974. |
