Notes for Judith Stoughton
Another source has her born 1591 in Aller, Somerset.32 And another says 1596 in Essex.33 Moved from England to North America in 1636. Husband Smead had died in 1634.

Another source says Judith sailed with her 3 children from Gravesend, England, 3 Sept 1635 with John Flower Captain in the ship "Dorset", first to Barbados and then to New England. There she settled in Salem Co., Massachussetts, and signed the Dorchester Church Covenant in 1636.34

Probably from South Western England in or near Devonshire. The Smeads were not Welsh but lived near Wales.11 Some speculate that his name was William.

One website has the husband's name as William, with the marriage being in 1623 at Naughton, Suffolk. Another also has him as William but married 25 Jan 1634 Cranbrook, Kent, England.
