Notes for Nathaniel Mowry
Emigrated in manhood to New England. Was made a freeman in Providence in 1672. He was a large landholder in what is now [1908] Smithfield and North Smithfield. Year of death is given as 1717-18.22 Surname also written Mowery.17

The above account of him being born in England is inconsistent with accounts found elsewhere in the same book which report that his father was in New England by 1631.
