Notes for Jan Willem Ruesink [immigrant] - 2
Emigrated from Aalten, neighborhood Lintelo, to America 27 Dec 1855 with wife (Grada Christina Rensink) and 5 children.10 This family came on the Dutch ship Alexander of Amsterdam at the same time as the family of Hendrik Jan (b. 1813) Ruesink & Hendrina, arriving in New York 24 Sept 1855. Milwaukee was listed as their intended destination.40

Lived in Milwaukee for about two and a half years, where he worked as foreman in a lime kiln. They then moved to Holland Twp., Sheboygan Co., onto the farm of D.A. Walvoord for whom he worked. In 1882 he retired and moved to Gibbsville.44

Is this the Jan W. Ruesink listed as having 3 males & 2 females in his household in the 1865 Sheboygan Co. census? It seems very likely.

1860 census of Holland Twp, Sheboygan Co, has:
Jan W. Ruesink 44 M Farmer Holland
Grada Ruesink 45 F Holland
Alyda Ruesink 10 F Holland
Evert Ruesink 8 M Holland
Bernard Ruesink 4 M Wisc
Lussana Ruesink 8/12 F Wisc
