Hello Bill and Cindy,

It is a long time ago that you heard something from us. We had a busy time, we were several times in Arnhem to give support to our daughter Renske. She is slowly going better, but she has still a long way to go, till complete recovery.

During the last 2 months I have found more about our ancestors. The oldest ancestor was Jacob, I knew nothing more about him. Now I know that his name was Jacob Snoeijenbosch, son of Jan Snoeijenbosch, he lived in 1668 in Aalten, neighbourhood De Haart. 27 dec 1668 he married in Dinxperlo Grietjen Ruesinck, daughter of Hermen Ruesinck.
From this marriage:
1 Derk Snoeijenbosch (Reussinck) bapt. 10-05-1673 in Aalten, he married 24-05-1696 in Dinxperlo Derske te Boekhorst.
2 Wessel Snoeijenbosch baptised 11-04-1675 in Aalten.

The changing of surname was not unusual in that time, so I thougt I had the solution for that: After his marriage Jacob lived on the farm of his wife Grietjen Ruesinck and as usual in that time he got the surname of his wife, while he lived on her farm. But later on I found another explanation: In the old records of "De Heerlijkheid Bredevoort" where you can find the records of justice, I found two records which told something about Ruessink. One of 3 september 1695 and one of october 1695. Both records told about an inheritance. These records learned me a lot about the Ruesink and Snoeijenbosch name.

The result of this all was is as follows:

The father of Grietjen Ruesinck is Hermen Reusinck, he lived on the farm "Ruesink Jacobshuis" Kamerstraat De Heurne. Hermen had 4 daughters:
1 Deefken Reusijnck married (1) 22-03-1663 at Aalten Geert Sluiskes son of Hendrik Sluiskes, married(2) 13-03-1681 at Aalten Hendrick Olthuijs , son of Geert Olthuijs.
2 Esseltjen Reusinck married 22-12-1672 at Dinxperlo Berent ten Apenhorst, son of Dirck ten Apenhorst.
3 Hendrixken Reusinck married (1) 31-03-1667 in Dinxperlo Hendrik Reijerdinck. Married (2) 21-05 -1677 in Aalten Warner Gijsen (Giesen).
4 Grietjen Ruesinck married (1) 20-10-1667 in Dinxperlo Wessel Nieuwenhof (ten Nieuwen Hof), he died before 1668. Married (2) 17-01-1669 in Aalten Jacob Snoeijenbosch son of Jan Snoeijenbosch.

In the records about the inheritance date 3 september we read that Elsken Boeland widow of Derk Ruessink (= probably a brother of Hermen Reusinck) gets the inheritance of her husband, but she had to pay 100 guilders to each of the following persons: Hendersken (=Hendrixken) Ruessinck, Essle Ruessinck, Griete Ruesinck, Jan Frerik and Bernt Bouwhuis. About the last 2 persons I know nothing.

In the record of 16 oktober we read that Elsken Boelant gives the inheritance to Derk Snoeijenbosch a cousin or nephnew (In Dutch we have only one word fot this: neef) from her husband Derk Reussinck and she declared that they that they had adopted this Jacob Snoeijenbosch from childhood on as her own child. Jacob had now to pay 100 guilders to the persons mentioned above. And that will be the reason that the name Snoeijenbosch changed in Ruesinck.

I am still trying to find more, when there is more news you hear from me.
